VK Murthy is the second Kannadiga to get Dada Saheb Phalke Award. Earlier Dr. Rajkumar had received Phalke award

Though murthy worked in Hindi cinema mostly, he is from Mysore and a pakka Kannadiga. He worked in Kannada movie "Hoovu Hannu"

Hoovu Hannu is a great movie... Based on Triveni's novel by same name. Lakshmi, baby Shamili were there in lead roles. Lakshmi's acting is superb. It is the story of a prostitute (acted by Lakshmi).... Unforgettable acting..

Hoovu Hannu is directed by S V Rajendra singh babu .... superb work by him.

I read some where ta tSVR wanted to make this movie from long back, Actually when Puttanna died, shooting of Masanada Hoovu was still remaining, since SVR was puttanna's student he was asked to complete then SVR said no bcoz he wanted to make Hoovu Hannu which also revolves arround prostitute. then K S L Swamy stepped in & finished Masanada Hoovu.

Hoovu Hannu is very good movie, Lakshmi was exceptional, only movie where i found Shankar ashwath's acting good, even Baby shyamili was good. one more thing is Ex-CM Gundurao's son dinesh gundurao acted in this movie as hero. VCD/DVD are avilable on Moserbear, its must watch ...

I read articles about V K Murthy ... he was true kannadiga, he use to arrange film shotings in mysore. had made mysore koota in bombay & they use to act T P kailasam's plays in that koota. He spent half of his life in mumbai but got married in mysore.
