In the name of industrialisation and modernisation, we are seeing environmental degradation along with displacement of population. In a period of deep economic slowdown, an NRI Mr. Harsha Ram has dared to produce a non commercial cinema called Bettadapurada Ditta Makkalu.
There are heroes and directors in Kannada industry who consistently give remake movies. But here’s a director who despite all odds is striving hard to adapt a novel in each of his films. Yes, it is Kodlu Ramakrishna back with his new movie. The movie has released in PVR and has gained an official entry into South Asian film festival.
The movie is based on the novel BETTADA PURADA DITTARU by Na. D’ Souza. We can recall that Na. D’ Souza’s earlier novel Mulugade which was adopted as Dweepa won National Film Awards.
The story line is about a small village called Bettada Pura where an industrialist with the help of a local politician tries to start mining activities on the hill of the village. This is opposed by the school children of the village lead by their teacher.

Director Kodlu Ramakrishna and Producer Harsha Ram deserve an applause and support for giving such a film which does not have elements of consumerism and concentrates on the lives of village people in India oppressed by greedy industrialists and corrupt politicians. In fact, the film crew are the real DITTARU!
