Vetaran actor, producer M.P. Shankar passed away today afternoon in his home at Vijayanagara, Mysore. He is identified all over Karnataka for his great performance in the song "Kuladalli Keelyaavudo Huchchappa" from the film Satya Harishchandra.

M.P. Shankar was appreciated for his acting in the film Bhootayyana Maga Ayyu in the role of Bhootayya – the stingy man in the film. He is famous for his roles that he played in the films- Bangaarada Manushta, Ratnamanjari, Gandhada Gudi etc.

He was a lover of wildlife and animals. He produced several movies among which the film Gandhada Gudi was very famous for the portrayal of wild life. He had many plans of making one more film based on wildlife conservation.

Several industry people have expressed their condolences for the veteran actor. We at Gandhada Gudi.com wish that his soul rests in peace. Though Karntaka was referred as Gandahda Gudi (Home of Sandalwood) in several poems, his film Gandhada Gudi was responsible for familiarising this name among the masses. We can say that his film Gandhada Gudi was surely the inspiration for naming our website.
