Audio Review By our member Cee
First thing that came to my mind when I started listening to the first
song in this album is that this is not an album to listen to in KA
(even though I love KA :prayer: :prayer:
) or my Mac speakers. Doesn't really give a feel of the music. But
since I'm constrained at the moment by my shapatha not to buy anything
from KS, I have to make do. So, to the review:

1. Joy Joy Jolly: The guitar riffs. Joy! :)
It actually doesn't sound all that joyful or jolly for that matter.
BUT, it's an excellent song. The four singers have their voices
perfectly modulated, and as mentioned before, the guitar makes the
song. And the oddly pronounced lyrics. (Influenced by the original
Telugu version? :hmm: )

2. Jolly Days:
Again the name suggests freaking out-ish song. Aadre again, it's not.
And again, it's a very well composed song. Harshika sings the prelude
part – best bit of the song. Mickey sings the reprise – Jolly Days – It
gets repetitive at times, but the music more than makes up for it. Also
another feeling comes into my brain, that this album is probably meant
to be nostalgic.

3. Rakta Sambandha: :jump: :jump: Well, this is the song I'd been jumping about even before I heard it. And Karthik doesn't disappoint at all. :)
I will tolerate his konga-ness, he has a golden voice. My favorite song
of the album. This is a very haunting number, it doesn't beat Karthik's
Nenape but it comes very close. The only thing that stands out like a
sore thumb is 'Oh my friend'. Kaviraj tale-ge erDu kuTbeku – he's
written a very good song, but to make it align absolutely with the
original Tel song, he inserts the crap English line. Why why why does
it have to be a line by line copy?

4. Sarigama Sarigama:
Finally a peppy haaDu. Good beats. Ranjith and Sunita do a good job
singing. Except Sunita doesn't get most of the pronunciation right.
Also slightly loses steam during the charaNa parts.

5. Jolly Days (Rock version): Would have been my favorite of the album – had Karthik done the singing. :-D
Even then, music-wise it's the best of the album. The beginning
resembles a song of the pop group Matchbox 20 (I'm pretty sure it's
them), but it can be quickly ignored, because of the rest of the song
and it sounds pretty good anyways.

6. Yaakundendu: Bit. Pranavi sings it (a shloka (?)) well.

7. Saluge Saluge: Karthik's song again – by default I need to like it. :)
It's a good happy song – it's similar in tune to a part in one of the
songs (Jolly Days I think). It's the happier, 'I've just fallen in
love' version of the song. Karthik sings well. Extra points because
this song doesn't have a single English word. :) By default, this song has the best lyrics. :)

Mickey
Mayer (?) – why didn't we import him properly I wonder? He's very good,
at some points he reminded me of AR Rahman (especially when Mickey
himself howls (well it actually sounds nice, but I don't know a better
word) in the middle of songs). The singers, repeated absolutely from
the original do a decent job considering they're doing this a second
time, Karthik being the exception – he's excellent :-D
. Kaviraj – aargh, I wish he'd stop writing 6 songs an album and
Kanglish songs at that. He's good in places, Saluge & Rakta
Sambandha are good.

Summing up, ignoring utterly the fact that
I'm reviewing something that's been out there for ages and I'm probably
the only one who hasn't heard the original, it's a very good album.

4/5
for the music alone.
